I visited my sister in Ann Arbor when I was in my early 20’s and purchased an 8 oz Raspberry Vanilla soy travel tin from a little boutique. I fell in LOVE, but it was $28 - not a candle habit I could afford to keep up. After months of research I bit the bullet in 2009 and decided to start making them myself. Back then we operated under the name Hearts Candle Company and the candles were poured into silver tins with brown Kraft labels - they were, for lack of a better word, ugly.
We’ve changed names a few times since then, but after giving birth to my daughter in 2018 I decided to collaborate with my cousin’s husband Vijay Paniker, a Nationally Recognized Ceramicist. Vijay creates the amazing pieces you see under Collections - Cedar Shed Ceramics, where you can purchase coffee mugs and hand-poured candles in his wheel thrown reusable vessels. Hannah Bean is a combination of our daughter’s names, Hannah and Zoë Bean, and is truly a passion project for both of us. We hope you love our candles and one of a kind ceramic creations as much as we love making them.
